Yesterday, the dance troupe from the China-Cyprus Cultural Tourism Association gave a stunning performance in Paphos and Nicosia, allowing local people to experience the unique customs and traditions of different Chinese ethnic groups. We used this engaging and accessible format to break down cultural barriers, making Chinese culture more approachable and relatable. At the same time, it fostered a greater love for their own cultures and enhanced their cultural confidence among these children living abroad.
Invited by a British school to participate in its 125th anniversary celebration, the children, dressed in traditional Miao costumes, were the first to perform, drawing cheers and applause from the audience, who exclaimed that they wanted to see more.
Meanwhile, in Paphos Town Square, a similar group of children dressed in traditional costumes were putting on a wonderful performance.
Foreigners' love for Chinese culture is profoundly and vividly reshaping the world's understanding of the East. We must demonstrate through our actions that Chinese culture is not merely a symbolic representation of the Great Wall and pandas. Rather, it is about enabling more and more foreigners to delve into the very fabric of the culture, to not only know about the cheongsam, but also to appreciate the beauty of Hanfu's different styles across dynasties; to not only understand "yin and yang," but also to use traditional Chinese medicine theories to regulate body and mind. This transformation signifies that Chinese culture has evolved from an "exotic" concept into tangible and practical wisdom for living.
